Healthy Reasons to Enjoy Your Morning Cup o' Coffee

Coffee is a miraculous drink. Loaded with antioxidants and all sorts of nutrients, coffee is, when drunk properly, a very healthy treat.


The most obvious benefit to a having a morning cup of joe each morning is the energy boost that it gives drinkers thanks to the black liquid’s load of caffeine. This stimulant quickly hits the bloodstream from where it energizes the body and the brain. In the brain, caffeine does more than increase a consumer’s energy level, it also improves moods, reaction times, and overall cognitive function. I don’t know about you, but I care a great deal about my cognitive function.

Physical Performance

As mentioned above, the caffeine from a cup of coffee does indeed go into one’s muscles. However, it also hits the central nervous system, which when combined with the boost to muscle activity the stimulant gives, can result in improved physical performance.

Topping off this boost is the fact that caffeine likewise increases the amount of adrenaline in the blood which is a great help when one is calling on his or her body to work, move, go, lift.

Many fitness experts recommend that people have a cup a black coffee 30 minutes before working out.

Loaded with Nutrients

Coffee is not just about caffeine, it is also loaded with nutrients such as magnesium, potassium, riboflavin, manganese, pantothenic acid, and niacin. Moreover, there are so many antioxidants in coffee that for many people in the west, coffee is their largest source of antioxidants.

Burns Fat

One way that coffee boosts energy is by calling on the body to break down the fat cells it is holding so that they will be available in the bloodstream as free fatty acids from where they can be used as fuel.

Over the years, there have been numerous studies showing that the caffeine in coffee boosts a person’s fat-burning rate from 10 to 29 percent, while it kicks up a person’s metabolic rate from three to 11 percent.
