Museo Platter w/Lion Handle

Museo Platter w/Lion Handle

Item Id: ART MS12
3"H x 19"D

Distressed marks and a vibrant red-orange glaze make a decorative statement on this large platter with its lion handles. Dramatic enough to sit alone on a coffee table, it agreeably accepts a floating blossom or two or hors d'oeuvres, but think caviar, at the least, smoked salmon. (3'Hx25"D)

Since medieval times, the lion has been the symbol of Florence, a city renowned for its art and museums. The motif of our Museo collection is the Firenze lion, displayed in a rich orange-red finish befitting a rich cultural history. It is formed by proud artisans of modern Florence who throw clay on a potter's wheel, hand sculpt decorative images like our Museo lion and then glaze by hand each item in our vibrant glaze to present your Museo piece, brought to you from Italy by Fortunata.

Clay is thrown and shaped by hand on the potter's wheel, then partially glazed in distressed in rich orange-red, leaving portions of the terracotta bases and interiors exposed for textural contrast. For decorative use only.
