Nicholas Mosse has been making sponge decorated pottery since 1975. Inspired by his mother's collection of Irish and Scottish spongeware, Nicholas began his pottery works in the old family mill on River Nore in Bennettsbridge, Ireland. The pottery is hand thrown and hand decorated. each design element is applied separately. Animals and flowers are set against geometric repeat borders in delicious blues, browns, greens, and reds on a soft white background. Careful throwing and delicate details give the pottery and unusually light and elegant appeal.
