The artwork of Nicholas Mosse pottery has been around since the start of the company in 1976. The artform, though, has been around for 200 years. In the 18th century, Irish pottery makers started using cut sponges to dab designs onto their works. The result of this process was a unique aesthetic. Like all great forms of art, it retains its appeal centuries later — not just in its native Ireland, but all over the world.

How does Nicholas Mosse continue to find success? The multifaceted answer starts with a mastery of the form. Nicholas himself trains every individual artist when they start at his company, and all of them paint every design by hand. His wife Susan is the one who comes up with the designs.
